What you should pay

At Lonergan & Raven, we believe in fair, transparent pricing—and in providing the highest level of care without unnecessary financial pressure.

While some larger companies may charge $12,000 to $16,000 or more for a funeral, we offer the same level of service and dignity for a fraction of the cost—typically between $6,000 and $8,000.

We encourage families to compare prices and carefully assess so-called “package deals.” Many of these don’t include essentials like the coffin or hearse—two items that can significantly increase the final bill. All of our packages include both a coffin and a hearse as standard, something that’s surprisingly rare in the industry.

We’re also happy to provide initial quotes over the phone or via email to give you a clear idea of what to expect. However, a detailed and accurate quote can only be provided during the arrangement meeting, once we fully understand your preferences and needs.

All of our pricing is GST-inclusive, unlike many companies who add GST on top—often inflating the final cost by hundreds of dollars. With us, what you see is what you pay.

Our Packages

Our standard packages cover all the necessary components of a funeral, including arranging the details, collecting medical certificates, mortuary care, handling legal paperwork, coordinating with the family and celebrant, and providing staff and vehicles for the funeral service. Additionally, we include certain items that other companies might charge extra for, such as a car for the family, a viewing at the time of service and a memorial book.

    • Place of transfer

    • Time of transfer (after-hours transfers incur an additional $485 charge)

    • Place and time of cremation (some crematoria have varying costs at different times of the day)

    • Place of burial (country cemeteries offer lower costs, but travel expenses may increase)

    • Type of grave (lawn grave, headstone grave, monumental grave, mausoleum)

    • Repatriation of the deceased overseas after the service

    • Viewing arrangements (at our chapel, another chapel, or a church)

    • Coffin or casket upgrades

    • Type of celebrant (minister, priest, bishop, civil celebrant)

    • Inclusion of an organist or piper

    • Mass booklets, video shows, or live-stream recordings

    • Post-service refreshments (location can vary)

And many more options tailored to your needs.

Under 65?

Did you know, you may be entitled to Life insurance from your loved ones Superannuation

It is important you check if your loved one had automatic life insurance included in their superannuation policy (AustralianSuper, CBUS, HESTA etc).   This applies if your loved one was of working age (under 65 years of age).  As the family member, you may be entitled to the life insurance benefit and the superannuation balance.

The death of the loved one,  is one of those times, when the right claim help from the start of the claim, can make a world of difference. To make it easier for you, Lonergan & Raven can arrange a free no no-obligation availability check to see if your loved one had life insurance in their superannuation fund.

So that you have one less thing to organise, our arrangement with AFRM Claims Advocacy means they can check the availability of life insurance for free and then make it easy for you by managing the claim(s) on your behalf.  This may result in the life insurance and super death benefit being released sooner.
